Quality Assurance Manager

Tasks include:

  • Manages Customer Complaint Program. Trend common complaints, work with manufacturing plants to conduct a comprehensive root cause analysis with corrective actions and effective preventive actions. Monitor preventive actions to ensure effectiveness
  • Manage the Organic Program by ensuring all documents are up to date, ensuring current regulations are met and undergo annual audits. Assist the manufacturing plants in preparing for their Organic Audits by providing updated documents, ensure all suppliers and products are submitted for certification
  • Manage Supplier Approval Program to ensure all suppliers have been properly vetted, meet quality standards and ensure all documents are maintained up to date to be in good standing
  • Manage the Retain Program. Ensure retain samples are properly evaluated. Trend any deviations and work with the manufacturing plants to ensure the product meets specifications
  • Assist in managing the Warehouse Quality Programs to ensure the programs meet auditing guidelines, food safety standards, are effective and properly implemented. Support and assist the Warehouses with everything needed for them to be successful, efficient and effective
  • Assist in the development of new products/SKUs by assisting in the R&D of the product, procurement of new ingredients, setting up the product for specifications for the Operations team as well as for the plant
  • Oversee specifications for all manufacturing plants and ensure they are accurate, clear and updated to reflect any revisions
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Finished Product Specifications for customers
  • Review and approval of all Certificate of Analysis for raw materials and finished products. General Microbiological and Chemical knowledge required
  • Review and evaluation of samples (raw materials and/or finished products) as required. Assist in procurement activities
  • Review and approve product packaging and labels to ensure accuracy and that they are complaint with FDA Labeling Compliance
  • Review and approve marketing documents to ensure they are accurate and meet the product specifications
  • Work with Operations team to ensure new/revised raw ingredients, packaging and finished product part codes are set up
  • Work with manufacturing plants to ensure they have everything required to be successful. Assist with troubleshooting any issues and at the manufacturing level
  • Support manufacturing plants with all supplier documents including any additional documents needed for auditing or regulatory purposes
  • Assist Operations teams with any quality related information or tasks required
  • Assist the Sales team to ensure they have the all the information they need to be successful
  • Assist Director of Quality in any additional tasks pertaining to quality assurance and regulatory affairs
  • Assign and review CAPAs for manufacturing plants and suppliers as required for deviations
  • Assist in the maintenance and updates to the Item Master Spreadsheets
  • Assist Director of QA in conducting Risk Assessments and troubleshooting any issues as needed

Ideal candidate traits:

  • Should have a minimum of at least 5 years in Food Manufacturing
  • Preferred to have 3 years of management experience
  • Should have a good general understanding of GFSI Audit Schemes
  • Must be able to review/interpret both audit and regulatory guidelines, implement procedures and supporting documentation to meet those guidelines
  • Should be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Communicates effectively as well as presents themselves in a professional manner
  • Able to multitask and manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Prioritize their time efficiently to ensure targeted timelines are met
  • Must be self motivated
  • Must have a desire to learn more about the industry and their role within the company
  • Must be able to work interdepartmentally with the mentality of assisting where needed for the good of the company
  • Must be computer literate and work well with Google programs, Microsoft, etc.
